{الفكر القومي العربي} Re: Egypt today

I am glad you mostly agree with me Mr. Kais, I just came from a very successful tourism and culture function held by the Egyptian Embassy , may be five thousand people will attend by the end of the function, mostly Americans and other nationalities, this confirms the love for Egypt and it's mystic . My fear is what is after the elction, and that was the topic of discussion with my Egyptian friends.
The votes were divided but every one agreed that Mr. Sabahy is the only non controversial choice. Mr.  Hamdeen Sabahy is the safest bet for Egypt right now, so I am going to support his campaign for the love of peace in Egypt.
By the way you are going to love Jwad , what a wonderful young man. He does us all proud.
Sincerely, Samia

Dear Dr. Samia,

I agree with your analysis to great extend (not all the way!), specifically the Youth are the one going to bring Egypt back to its glory. However, I am optimistic this transition will not be as bloody as it may appear now. The Egyptian youth from all facets are much more mature and wiser than our generation. They are naturally acting peacefully. They are not hungry for power as all the actors on the Egyptian stage today. With that said; we, the older generation who loves Egypt without conditions or personal gain, has the responsibility to provide the support and resources to help the youth organizing themselves in this journey of evolution to the future. I am sure we will go through more painful turns in the coming year or so then we start gradually to mature. This is the nature of transformation in its best; Painful!!

By the next election, I can see Egypt the largest democracy in the region.

Tahia Misr; Kais

Subject: Egypt today

As every one knows by now Egypt security situation has deteriorated  to the lowest level  since the revolution. The majority of people are concerned, worried, depressed and many of them either left Egypt for fear about their families safety  or to sustain their life style, and there are those who are looking to escape the misery of living in Egypt as it stands..

The Military Supreme Council had it all , the control over the government, the internal security, people's dreams for a better Egypt and The United States and The  Saudi Support.

Instead of taking advantage of the situation, planning to transfer Egypt  into a modern civil society , SCAF gambled and lost not just the opportunity but the war and the battle.

SCAF gambled that if they just create a little bet of chaos , controlled trouble , they may be able to stay influencing the political situation in Egypt and they will be able to keep a lion's share of the economy and privileges which they have accumulated over the years.

While SCAF staged the scrimmage from Abassia, Portsaid, Masspero Tahreer and back to Abassia they did not calculate the hidden power of the political ambition of  Saudi Arabia in concurring  Egypt , the Jewel of the Arab world.

Saudis Wahabi and Salafeis who have been in the closet for years , now with fresh funds , have been emboldened to come out even dressed like Saudies sitting in an Egyptian formal meeting ?

SCAF thought that they can be in control of the chaos which they have created, The United States of America closed their  eyes, thinking it might be easier to deal with a weaker Egypt, and Saudi Arabia would like to keep democracy away from their home land.

Saudi Arabia now may realize that it received more that it bargained  for , as the hate directed toward the kingdom is mounting louder than it ever was.

The United States antenna is now on most alert as a defector to Mr. Alzwahri in the picture, the US has enough trouble with Alkada in Yemen, Pakistan and Aphganistan, so now are they going to fly and kill targets in Egypt ? Would SCAF give them permission to do that ?

By the way, the US does not take permission to protect their own interest as announced by President Barrack Obama, also US has air space privilege over Egypt.

How about the Muslim Brother hood ? Did they get what they bargained for ? Majority of Maglas Elshab and Maglas Elshora and nothing to show for , not only that their popularity has gone down drastically, but also the prestige they hoped for has been diminished..

The Salafeis and their extreme views have never been liked and now every one can see their favorite methods of violence which does not suit Egypt 's taste.

Remaining the old regime and all who benefited from it, they dealt with SCAF to secure their position but now even they  are going to loose a great deal from devalue their assets and the Egyptian pound which has to happen very soon.

Did any one win from SCAF's plan ? Unfortunately even SCAF lost all their cards, the war and the battle and they will suffer from their horrible failed plan   for years to come just like they suffered from the complacency and humiliation in 1967.

If miracles are not possible to save Egypt at this time, for sure it is not going to be any of the power mentioned above, I still will place my bet on the youth of our country but unfortunately it is going to be with more of their blood and scarifies.

Democracy for Egypt. Samia Harris
