Marhaba everybody!

On August 30th, 2016, an Arab-identified collective, going by the name of #Arabs4BlackPower released a statement of solidarity with Black Liberation. The statement was written as a response to the Movement for Black Lives' recently released Policy Platform, but its scope reaches farther. While #Arabs4BlackPower formed as a result of this platform, it is carrying on a decades-old legacy of Arab support for Black Liberation.

#Arabs4BlackPower, a global community with roots in Arabic-speaking countries, is a group of artists, academics, mothers, fathers, refugees, students, and community organizers who have been working together in the month of Black August to continue the work of transforming Arab solidarity with the Black struggle into solid action. #Arabs4BlackPower is calling for a strong showing of Arab solidarity with the Black struggle starting with the release of the #Arabs4BlackPower solidarity statement on August 30, 2016.

Let's take this opportunity to show our solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) and Black popular resistance (in the United States and beyond) to the next level through a platform of joint struggle.

Here are a few tangible ways you can show your support:

  • Endorse by signing on to the pledge of solidarity as an individual and/or organization. statement of solidarity (organization or individual)

  • Organize a fun, unique, and powerful photo shoot action for yourself and/or organizations using the hashtag template that can be downloaded below and shared on Facebook & Twitter.

  • Join and share the Facebook page Arabs4BlackPower.

  • Submit your original artwork, music, poetry, writings, and other art to Arabs4BlackPower@gmail.com

  • Organize events, such as teach-ins, creative actions and/or occupations to educate your communities about the Black struggle.

  • Promote your actions on Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #Arabs4BlackPower

We'll be posting the details of all of the actions, photo shoots, and media releases taking place across the world on our Facebook and Twitter pages starting August 30, 2016.

If you have any questions, please contact us at: arabs4blackpower@gmail.com

Love and Solidarity,

#Arabs4BlackPower
