For decades and even centuries United States of America has been the beacon for democracy, the hope for the future, the Mecca for human rights and the dream for immigrants wanting a better life for their children. The US has been the compass to which all of us concerned with equality, equity , rule of law and justice for all use. The country we point at as a higher example to seek freedom , human dignity and aspiration.
Even though the United States is only 350 million people , it always looked bigger and better than the rest of the world. The statue of liberty by itself exemplifies the hope for the poor and the sick world wide. It made America the dream land for all seekers of freedom.
Now when this amazing country with it's unique experiment goes rogue the whole world goes off balance. The earth shakes and rumble and the sky almost falls. Everything that we know gets so confused and can not find a home or a Mecca.
When President Trump took office , the United States of America went rogue and the whole world went wacko. The world got so blurry , The dictatorship became the norm, the abuse became acceptable or at least tolerated , the aggression of fascist government became worse, occupation has been allowed , practiced and expanded upon and criminal dictators have been admired and allowed in the US.
The freedom of speech has been prohibited in many countries and poverty has increased and so did the wealth of the brutal dictators IE Egypt, Sudan, Saudi Arabia . Even Israel's Minister who is charged with corruption is allowed to stay in leadership
Today I even heard that Israel has to hurry up and execute all it's hope of expansion before January first , in case Trump leaves office.
The White House led by President Trump officially now declare that they will not interfere with internal affairs of any government regardless of their human rights violation and they do not seek to change any government. Of course as long as the US affairs are not effected.
Mohamed Bin Suleiman would like to be the king of Saudi Arabia before Trump leaves office even if he had ordered the killing of a Saudi citizen who was a US resident. Sisi has been Trump's favorite dictator . These words were never uttered before from a US president!
US principals have changed , with it so did many countries . Hopes have been dimmed , rights have been demolished and with it US leadership has gone .
The picture of Federal Guards gassing peaceful Moms demonstrating very much reminds me of the streets of Egypt. Same brutality, same horrible violations of human rights , same ugliness of fascism.
What happened to the beautiful country, to the Rule of Law, to the beacon of freedom and democracy ? What happened to my country of choice ? Would it come back ? Would it join the rest of the horrible countries and that will be the norm ?
I refuse to accept the abnormal to be the normal. I do hope that we the Americans will bring back the country that we love. If not the world would have lost a great moral compass.
